I see no objection to the scheme proposed in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}9.11.38. The elongated connection in the original scheme tends to work the valve about under bad driving conditions, the short valve connection parallel to axis of wheel should be satisfactory, but would like rubber round it to keep water out.
