| Expl. Dept. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}12/MJ. 26th. January, 1934. Richard Summers, Esq., Denna Hall, Burton Point, CHESHIRE. Dear Mr. Summers, I have heard from our London Office that the first privately owned 3½ Litre Bentley car to be delivered has been allotted to you. Mr. Robotham, before he left for the States, was rather anxious that I should do all I could to see that you are a satisfied owner. We should be very interested to hear your opinion of the car after you have had time to try it out. There is one point I would like to make clear, - you will find that after the car has been washed the foot brakes are ineffective until the water has been dried off. Our usual procedure at the Works is to run the car with the brakes on for the first few hundred yards. It is one of those compromises we have been forced to make. We can get more than twice the life out of the brake material we are using, than we should get if we were using a material which is less affected by water. Yours sincerely, | ||
