-3- Could not instructions be issued that no overlapping of the gears should be allowed, and should it be found that after fitting up there is a slight amount of overlapping, the gears should be ground down so that they will be flush. Although we take every precaution of cleaning down the gears after running them in, I still feel that there is a certain amount of wear which takes place on these gears, owing to grit and other substance getting into them. As previously pointed out, the lubrication of the gears could be very much improved, and the gears themselves, besides being better lubricated, could have foreign matter etc. more thoroughly cleaned out. This could be done by altering the position of the oil feed so as to feed the front edge of the gear, as at present the feed enters about the middle of the gear, and as a matter of fact appears to lubricate about one third of the inside portion of the gear. Could you please arrange for this alteration to take place. I have already consulted EH on this matter, and he quite agrees to its application. EP.{G.
