X.3426 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} To Ck.{Mr Clark} Copy to EK.EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}5/W3.12.19. 3Y6/. X.682. RE ENGINE STARTER.S X.3428. X.3082. X.3426. With reference to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}14/F28.11.19, there appears to be quite definite trouble with regard to the operation of our Starter Motor particularly in cold weather. On 7-CA, for example, the Dof Clutch will not come into engagement when the chassis is really cold, although the Motor of course is running. I am not sure with regard to the adjustement of 7-CA, and it might be that the armature of the Actuator Box is, in its off position, too far way from the poles of the Magnets Will Mr. Hives and Mr. Clark please look this matter and report. 7-CA is quite useless as regards Self Starting when the chassis is cold.
