RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} Expl. No. 29172 REF. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LGS.10.26. OBJECT OF TEST. Preparation of 3-F-X low compression for Camshaft and valve comparison tests. TESTER. F.C. Wenger. CONDITIONS. Low compression 3-F-X as per 1.10.26 on test bed. 2 C.H. Duplex carburetters. 50% benzol. 50% Aviation fuel. SUMMARY OF TEST. Compression ratio. The compression ratio was measured and found to be 5.64 : 1. The reason for higher compression ratio than specified (5.4 : 1) is the fact that the new type umbrella (E.28411) valves decrease the clearance volume to account for this. Any further running of this engine was delayed due to the break-down of test tackle. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.C.Wenger. | ||
