Phantom III Exhaust System.

With regard to the 30 M.P.H. exhaust boom on the above car, and the suggested cure as laid out in memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}2/JH.31.8.36, we now find from the design department that the lengthening of the front expansion box causes rather a lot of complications, in respect to ground clearance and side engine guards.

We cannot consider the scrapping of tools and jigs etc. just made for the manufacture of our present engine guards, and we therefore suggest that the front expansion be allowed to remain in its present form and only the tail pipe and the method of mounting it should be modified. The complaint is not a general one and as we are at the moment experimenting with a new system entirely, we think this is the best course to adopt.

RmG. Wyman.
