Description of Parts: MODIFIED HARDY FABRIC COUPLING FOR DYNAMO AND MAGNETO DRIVES.
Origin: To prevent distortion of fabric which happened when using rivets to fasten driving pieces on. The mod: is to use ferrules which do not damage fabric.
Experimental Test Report: With the present fabric coupling rivets are used to fasten the driving pieces and are bent in the operation and damage the fabric. In some instances the material is squashed up causing the fabric to bulge out between the driving dogs and cause the coupling to deteriorate quickly. The modification does away with the rivets and ferruls are pressed in, limits being allowed for this. The modified coupling was fitted to 12-EX - ran 10,000 miles. At the end of test its condition was as good as when first fitted. Less likelihood of deterioration.
