To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to BJ. ORIGINAL EFC3/LG20.7.27. SWITCHBOX. X.8730 During my last visit to you the question arose as to whether the charging switch contacts suffered through breaking the field winding without a quick break, and I said I had not heard of any trouble from this source. I have made enquiries however and it appears that there have been one or two isolated cases of a switchbox being returned on this account, probably in cases where the user has been ultra-careful about the charging of the battery. It remains to be seen whether the quick break switch which we have put on a chassis for test ( see other note) will suffer in this respect; this switch, if adopted, would considerably save the switchbox from such burning.
