Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} (For Depot Sheet) from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/AD2.12.31. OVER-HEATING WHEN SLOW RUNNING. We have come across a case where over-heating took place when the engine was idling or the car running at very slow speeds on top gear. The trouble was traced to too large a clearance between the rotor of the water pump and the casing. In the particular case in question it was .045 whereas .005 is adequate.
