OVER-HEATING WHEN SLOW RUNNING.

We have come across a case where over-heating took place when the engine was idling or the car running at very slow speeds on top gear. The trouble was traced to too large a clearance between the rotor of the water pump and the casing. In the particular case in question it was .045 whereas .005 is adequate.
