To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} RG.{Mr Rowledge} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X5430 R2/M10.1.27. STEERING - 20 HP. LONGITUDINAL TUBE. X.5430 X.5450 You will remember I suggested that the above was broken by shunting stress, and not running stresses, therefore flexibility of spring, and great clearance, are of less moment than strengthening the tubes for static loads. At the same time I cannot understand why we cannot at once move to N.sch.2308 or 2329 both of which seem good. It cannot pay to muddle ourselves up with two types for the sake of a moderate number of comparatively inexpensive pieces. Therefore it seems better to go the whole hog and cut our losses, and get going quickly on whatever we think the best for the work in hand. R.{Sir Henry Royce} - | ||
