re NEW TYPE K.L.G. SPARKING PLUGS FOR OUR CHASSIS

Referring to your Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.2/AP.22.2.37, as arranged with you we fitted to our Aero Service transport car 21-G-IV (20/25 H.P. chassis) six 14-m/m plugs, Bosch type, which we understood had Corundite insulation. The gaps were originally set at .020".

They have now run 3,500 miles, covering various types of running and use, during which time the plugs have never been touched.

No trouble has been experienced in any way, in spite of the fact that we have used T.E.L. mixture continually. We have not had any misfires or cutting out under any condition of running; starting up has always been satisfactory, in spite of the car being left out in the open under various winter conditions. They certainly seem to give more satisfactory results to those we have experienced with the previous Mica type plugs.

We have now made an inspection of the plugs and find there is no apparent erosion. The gaps, however, have increased from .025 to .027". The plugs are slightly on the sooty side, as though the mixture was rather strong.

As arranged with you, we are changing these plugs to a set of the type you now specify for this type of car, i.e. K.L.G. FLB.30.X, and we will report on these after further running.
