Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. WHEN REPLYING PLEASE REFER TO X/LGT/10. 9th November, 1939. For the attention of Mr.Childs. Dear Sirs, In connection with Mr.Thacker's visit to your works a little while ago, and various telephone conversations with the undersigned on the subject of experimental equipment, we attach a copy of Starter Performance Curve No:W.857/1 for the M.45.G. 12 Volt Starter and W.844/1 for the M.418.G. 12 Volt Starter. -> see 6134. Regarding your query as to whether our M.45.G. Starter would be suitable on an Engine requiring 130 ft. lbs, we are satisfied after checking up the technical data of the Engine which you gave us the other day, that this Starter would be quite satisfactory. We also confirm that we are still experimenting with the rubber drive as regards tenderising the rubber, but so far we have not found anything to improve on the existing rubber which has stood up to endurance tests here very well. Regarding Ignition Coil, we sent you with the Rover equipment a Q.12. Earth Return Coil and we have now sent under separate cover a sample of our R.12. Coil (Laboratory No:L.2332). On the subject of Distributors, we sent a D.I.6.A. with the Rover equipment and this will be followed with a 4 Cylinder type with vacuum unit in the course of the next day or so. | ||
