CONTINUATION ROLLS ROYCE JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED PAGE 2 DATE 9/11/39. We have received the sample Comm. End and Drive End Brackets which are used on your 5" Dynamo, the idea being that we might be able to adapt these components in connection with our standard 4½" Dynamo, unfortunately, this is not possible, it means, therefore, that a new Comm. End and Drive End Bracket will have to be made so we are proceeding to have the necessary Drawings issued for these Brackets, but we shall have to ask you to be good enough to give serious consideration to the making of these Brackets at your works as we now have no facilities for this sort of work. On receipt of the Brackets we would then proceed to build them on to our standard 4½" ventilated type Dynamo which deals with a 14 amp lamp load and gives 17 amps after half-hour running. We note that you ask for a machine capable of giving 16 amps hot. The Regulator Unit we should supply with this machine would be our standard article having Bi-metal strip, as we explained to you that to bring through a Regulator without this strip would necessitate departing entirely from standard products. Your enquiry regarding De-froster Unit for fitting to an S.W.4. Screen Wiper, we find that our Laboratory have one of these De-froster Units, so we are arranging to have it fitted to a Screen Wiper as soon as ever possible. Your query re the new Flush fitting Sidelamp for the new Bentley Model and the possibility of obtaining some of these lamps has been carefully investigated and we find that the tools have not been completed but the Designs Department state that they will do their very best to make up a couple of pairs of these lamps as and when it is possible to do so. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED [Signature] Technical Sales Department. | ||
