Alpine AW/TSH17/L12313 From Exp.Dept. Copies for Mr Johnson Mr Royce March 12th. 1913. Experimental Dept. "B" Weekly Report. X.2/B - Both brakes on rear axle. This axle has been run with the new gears which were fitted a week ago. The period of vibration can still be felt but is very slight. It cannot be detected at all when seated in the back seat of the Landaulet body. It can be felt slightly through the pedals or by feeling at the torque tube. With a central brake drum fitted the period is bad and can be felt through the whole car. The footbrake has been fitted with reduced leverage so as to obtain more clearance of the shoes. One can still lock the wheels if necessary without undue pressure on the pedal. The whole job seems excellent and the only alterations necessary are details such as enlarged oil escape etc. We are pushing forward with several more axles so as to obtain more tests. Austrian Trials Cars. - X.219 These cars are not yet complete as we are waiting to hear the results of the radiator tests being carried out by Mr Barrington in France. We have received a preliminary report of the first test with the 22" radiator and so far this size seems quite satisfactory. We have however no report of tests with the 23.5" radiator.
