Elec. 6144 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}6/ML.19.2.40. c. Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} Ripplet 2 - R - 11. The Lucas Regulator Cutout unit, which we are sending separately, is arranged to work in conjunction with the C.45.PV/3 type dynamo and is especially designed for the smaller load, and dynamo output, thought to be sufficient for a car of the Ripplet class. As the use of the Lucas Cutout in place of the R.R. cutout is, at present, experimental, we are not certain whether the final scheme will be fitted to the R.R. base or a Lucas base; so we have given it to you for the first car in the form as supplied by Messrs. Lucas to the Rover Co., The fitting of this unit into an otherwise R.R. scheme renders some of the terminals redundant; consequently terminals A2, A3, and both A4 should be ignored. The five terminals used, namely D, E, F, A, and A1, are marked with the identical symbols used on our own regular B.V. unit and should be electrically connected in the same way. In connection with the mounting of this unit on the dash, a modified distance piece has already been made by RH{R. Hollingworth}'s fitter; this can be used if the Pukka scheme is not ready in time. We have attached this piece to the regulator unit for your examination. With regard to the B.60 type Delco-Remy distributor which we recommend for all 6-cylinder engines, the Head and Tower outline is the same as that on both the B.V. and Lagonda type. The only difference in the Lagonda unit is the position of the shaft lubricator, and we have attached a sketch showing this difference. We are sending along with the regulator unit a B.60 Delco-Remy distributor and two coils; a Lucas "Sports" coil and a Lucas "R" coil. It will be seen that it is possible to provide a mounting which will be suitable for either coil. | ||
