re 23-EX.

SgG/E1.5.31

Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/AD27.10.30, this car, I take it, is not brand new but has had a certain amount of use and could, therefore, only be sold as second-hand.

We decided that we could not sell 23-EX until N.2. Series were being delivered to the public because it was fitted with a large number of N.2. features.

It occurred to me, therefore, that, instead of building up another N.2. Series chassis for a trials car, we might make use of 23-EX for this purpose.

The body is an open touring one which would be difficult to sell in any case. It was an inexpensive body and, if we use it as a trials chassis, I would propose to take the body off and fit a new closed body.

Practically all the features enumerated on the schedule which accompanied Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s memo. quoted above are N.2. Series, but I gather that it has not got N.2. bonnet and dash and instrument board, and I should be glad to know whether you see any difficulty and unreasonably heavy expense if we asked you to convert this chassis so that it was N.2. Series so far as all visible modifications are concerned.

By "visible" you will understand I mean that there is no necessity for it to have exactly the same type of crankshaft or the same type of pistons etc.

Briefly my point is that it would be a means of absorbing this chassis and save your building up another one in the limited time available, as per my other memo/. to you to-day in regard to requirements of N.2. chassis for Paris and Olympia Shows.
