1280 April 28th 1937 Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.4/AP. Messrs John Marston & Co.Ltd, WOLVERHAMPTON. For the attention of Mr.Dunn. Dear Sir, We are today despatching to you for your inspection two Phantom III. radiator matrix units which have proved defective in service on customers cars, due to silting up. We should like to receive your report on the condition of these radiators and the question of renovating them etc. as soon as possible. This will make four defective radiators in all which have been submitted to you for inspection - we would like you to ensure that the labels attached to the last two units are not removed. We regret the delay in despatching to you the Bentley radiator to which you are going to fit the new set of dummy shutters with modified shape and angle of opening - we think however, that this radiator will definitely leave the Works today. We should of course like to receive this radiator fitted with the dummy shutter set as soon as you can let us have it. With regard to the Bentley radiator of reduced weight and cost which you are proposing to submit to us - we have made enquiries and are of the opinion that we shall not be changing the general design of our Bentley radiator for at least eighteen months from the present date i.e. we have at least eighteen months of production left - this should enable you to decide whether you wish to go further with this radiator. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
