BENTLEY CAR NO. AYM.76.

1. STEERING.
Cure front wheel wobble at low speeds, and general indefiniteness of steering at high speeds over rough roads.

2. FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS.
In my opinion the front axle has too much travel, and the whole front of the car tends to surge when going over a bumpy road at high speed.

3. ENGINE.
The tappets have become distinctly more noisy, although adjustment has been carefully watched. The engine has never been touched or disturbed, and seeing the length of running it has done, I would suggest it is decarbonised, and the tappets seen to at the same time. Acceleration, as noted in my report of August 28th, is not, in my opinion, as good as it should be, and for a car of this class, and I hope it may be improved.

4. GEAR BOX.
Unpleasant rattle on changing. Presumed to be due to some defect in the synchro-mesh gear, and requires curing.

5. BRAKES.
Although carefully maintained, have required a fair amount of attention, and squeak very badly. Suggest being dismantled and examined, and squeaks cured. I should like to be able to dismantle my brakes, which is impossible at the present time without a proper withdrawing tool, and I should like to have this piece of equipment delivered to me when the car is returned.

6. INSTRUMENTS.
WIND SCREEN WIPER.
This has never been satisfactory, and has given a good deal of trouble. On one occasion the main drive from the motor to the windscreen wiper sheered. The bends are too sharp, and it has always been a poorly fitted job.

SPEEDOMETER AND REV. COUNTER.
From the first day these were delivered they have been indistinct at night. There is a deposit inside the glass which makes it very difficult to read the instruments at night, and the figuring is very poor. At one time the speedometer reading packed up and refused to record for about 1000 miles. Suggest that these should be changed for better instruments and more clear reading, in which case I should like the correct speedometer readings to be recorded, or, alternatively, the present instruments to be put in proper order. If they are changed, I should like to have an illuminated type. They certainly are very unsatisfactory at present.
