To R.R. of America Inc. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} -4- RG{Mr Rowledge}/G12/7/21 Contd. in the cooling system. STARTER CARBURETTOR. X4396 Accompanied with this we send particulars of the small attached carburettor and its control valve and small pipes. This is made to attach to the present float chamber of the carburettor. (1) It can be regulated to provide for worn valve stems and different qualities of gasoline. (2) It has a choke to ensure the first mixture being sufficiently rich in all cases under all conditions. (3) It is easily taken apart if petrol passage choked. (4) It has its own little filter. SPEEDOMETER DRIVE. X1809. Regarding the speedometer drive, we think the way you fitted this up with the gearing quite good, and although we think the brass castings are heavy, it is quite a better fitting than the belt driven speed indicator. We see no objection to making this fitting standard for your production. WEIGHT OF CHASSIS. I would like to point out that in your recent arrangement you appear to be rather careless of the weight that is being added to the chassis. The additions which are made must be carefully scrutinized to render them as light as possible, otherwise, if we were to make the whole chassis proportionately heavy the weight would be prohibitive. BATTERY IGNITION. X4275 X3445 You will remember that we agreed to your fitting Bosch battery ignition provided a lengthy test proved the parts to last in good order, that you used our pattern of coil, and that they made the low tension contact rocker more easily detachable.
