X.3465. §-------------------------- Replying further to your By4/P4.10.20, we send herewith two blue prints of "N" scheme 654 shewing the proposed thickening of the right-hand ball bearing housing. We do not think that the left-hand housing will benefit by any thickening. It appears to us that the cause of this trouble is too much pressure per square inch on the ball bearing housing. A thin sleeve would slightly reduce this pressure but not enough to be any real benefit, we think. What appears to be required is a larger ball bearing, but we think this too much of an alteration to be considered at the present time, especially when we are contemplating further modifications to the steering in connection with the fracture of steering box shafts etc. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
