We are sending you under separate cover an A.T. Speedometer No.18255 which incorporates one or two new designs which we have lately included. In the first place it is fitted to take a trip handle which can be operated from the front of the instrument instead of the rear as at present. This is operated by two small bevel gears contained in an aluminium die cast housing and we have now had this type of handle in operation for six or seven months with very successful results. Secondly we have fitted an entirely new type of gear drive for the cyclometer mechanism, i.e. instead of fitting the two brass bevel gears which are at present fitted to your instruments we have put a worm running into a small 10T Spiral Gear. This latter system we find, after many months of experiment, is much quieter and proves altogether more satisfactory. It opens, however, one point, i.e. that the Mileage Recorder (Veeder) must register all miles and not 10ths of a mile as at present, that is to say the total mileage, which will be indicated on the Veeder will be 100,000 instead of 10,000 as at present. From the demands received from your clients we are rather of the opinion that this would be an asset in your case rather than an objection. We should be extremely obliged if you would kindly inspect this instrument and let us know whether any of the | ||
