Please circulate to usual people Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} I spent Monday at Cadillac and GM Building. Our stand on various refinements on tyre noise on a car suffering from road growl. rubber within the wheels and frame in all cases were the last word. The tyre people say lower tube class are not as bad as talking tyres. Chevrolet use 1/4" rubber compressed to 1/10 between the rear axle and springs. The rubber also surrounding the shackle location. I wish to check with tyre house this improved the passable results from 40 odd to 97 & helps internal silence on rough roads. For front tyre noise they are using rubber between the spring and wishbone and also rubber insulating the anchorage of the wishbone to the frame. I also had a further short talk with the Cadillac engine people. The V8 I had said is 3 1/2 x 4 1/2. | ||
