It is now pretty definitely established that we must have a through pipe for all the 6 cyls. in order to get reasonable silence, but for perfection in distribution two carburetters are a decided advantage, and can be run in connection with such a pipe without great difficulty as regards intake noises, which have proved almost insurmountable in two separate carburetters. When however it comes to simplicity of control and connections we shall probably find the single carburetter as used in the past preferable. There is difficulty in getting the two carburetters exactly right and sufficiently simple, whereas with a single carburetter we may be up against the one difficulty of less perfect distribution when cold, but we are hoping that the carburetter in hand with the edge throttle carburation, emulsion diffuser, and central core of petrol, should give us good all round results.
