HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} ORIGINAL. GOSHAWK 1. ENGINE. R8/428.11.31. Sent off 30.11.31. x5770 With reference to the above - i.e. the earliest 20HP., which was never adopted - we found there would be objections to using this engine even if the size were not too large for the speed programme. With reference to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 1. engine this consisted of a special cylinder head only on the lines of P. 2. and would not give the engine any different appearance to our standard engines P. 2. and J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3., and moreover it is now considered too large for the programme of supercharging; naturally aspirated it would not be much different to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3.
