ORIGINAL Origin: The reduction of the electrostatic effect brought about by this means, renders the coil capable of giving a longer spark so reducing the tendency to misfire by allowing a larger gap to be used at the plugs, with the consequent advantage of increase of amplitude of current oscillation in the spark.
