412827 Exptl. Dept. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Swdl. {Len H. Swindell} 3/JH. 22nd October, 1936. F.R. Banks Esq. The Ethyl Export Corporation, Thames House, Millbank, LONDON. S.W.1. Dear Mr. Banks, We have today despatched 2 of the special 10% chrome exhaust valves which have been tested in accordance with the letter which Mr. Robotham has written to you. These were run under normal Bentley endurance conditions on Ethyl and the inspection took place after 15 hours. The valves have been numbered round the stem at the tip, No.10 being the cracked valve, the crack running round on the valve face where the radii runs into the flat surface. Another valve was found cracked, but this has been sectioned up and is not available. The other valve we have sent is not cracked but stretched as per the chart which you have. The analysis of the S/SLU valve upon which we have recently completed 15,000 miles test is as follows. | ||
