With the standard valve gear the total equivalent weight on the valve is 225 gms. and the bouncing speed about 4900 r.p.m.

With the standard gear plus silent tappet the weight is 275 gms. and the bouncing speed is reduced to 4300 r.p.m. With the experimental valves and push rods shown here the weight with the silent tappets becomes 251 gms.

Taking the experimental gear, we think that the rocker assembly is probably the most amenable to weight cutting. We should be greatly obliged for any suggestion you care to make on the matter.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
