Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}¹ at W. 362 Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}1/MK.26.1.37. (Dict.25.1.37). Wheel Discs. ____ Cornercroft had a little trouble with discs on early P.IIIs due to the strain set up on their patent tyre valve extension (which, as you know, enables air to be added to the tyre without first removing the outer disc) in standing up to the rapid acceleration and high speeds of which the car is capable. They overcame the trouble but have been continuing their investigations and have now designed a modified form of valve extension which they are anxious to try out on a P.III. They have asked for our co-operation as they have no P.III car and they have sent us a set of black discs fitted with the new valve extensions in the hope that we shall be able to try them on a car. Have you a car on which you could try the discs, please? They are, of course, made to fit wheels of the standard size. If you have a car to which you could fit them, we will have the discs sent up to you. We presume that you will be able to try them out thoroughly in say a couple of months, and at the end of that time you will let us know whether you have any trouble with the valve extensions or the discs themselves.
