Swamping ratios and operating voltages for Lucas L.R.7. Regulators.

| R.C. 6092. BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RD.5/B.6.12.38. LUCAS L.R.7. REGULATORS. Arising out of the discussion about 6 : 1 swamping of L.R.7. Regulators, Mr. Robinson of Lucas telephoned to us, the following information :- Firstly, regulators had 2 : 1 ratio of swamping with a rise of .9 Secondly, 3 : 1 was tried, which only reduced the rise to .7 Finally 6 : 1 ratio was determined upon with a rise of .35 Since March 1938, all regulators are purported to have 6 : 1 swamping. One regulator is alleged to have been sent to us recently in which the operating voltage had been slightly reduced, i.e. 15.6 to 16 instead of our 15.8 to 16.3 RM {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /RC. {R. Childs} knows nothing of this regulator. Referring to the suggestion that the tapping should be altered, Mr. Robinson points out that there is only one turn to play with, and they do not think they can do anything with this. BY {R.W.
