6092. To REMTMW (struck through) Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}9/JH.31.10.38. We thank you for your memo. re regulator. We are running into trouble with the standard H.T. wire. Will you please change over to the new wires, as recently sent out to you complete in tube. The new wire has a special covering of 'Neoprene' which is alleged to resist the distructive action of ionisation. We are investigating the wearing properties of the contact lever rubbing blocks, but at the moment are at a loss to account for the excessive wear experienced by you on 8.B.V. The material is stated by Delco-Remy to be the same as we have been using on our Bentley and 25/30 H.P. type distributors. Is the surface of the cam O.K.? With regard to the tracking in the distributor head, we believe that this originated from an open circuit on a plug wire, probably at the commencement of its life, once started it would gradually become worse. We have actually reproduced this fault, in the above manner, in the Laboratory. We are sending under separate cover two contact levers in which I have had the Delco rubbing blocks removed and have in their place standard R.R. blocks. If you have further trouble will you please test these. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} | ||
