We have received the following report from Toussaint. - Translation:- "I am sending you this letter on behalf of Mr. Claude Johnson who requests me to inform you after journeying from Paris - Marseilles with the new chassis 7-G-11 - (1) The springs had bumped on the bad road. (2) Your rear accumulator battery is a little large and occasionally bumped on the propeller shaft and eventually broke the front support which holds the accumulator box to the chassis. Yours etc. Alfred Toussaint. As regards item 1. We have already written to Wa. {Mr Wallis} in Paris asking for further particulars as regards the complaint of springs bumping. We wish to know whether the front and rear bumped, or only the front. The usual complaint with Goshawks in France has been that the front springs only have bumped badly - any bumping at the back has generally been due to insufficient clearance. As regards item 2. The battery on 7-Goshawk-11 was a P & R Battery which was not to our dimensions which brought it close to the propeller shaft. We realise that there was a possibility of the propeller shaft fouling the battery box, and have since made arrangements that only one size of battery will be fitted.
