Handwritten text: P.S. Neill came. He stated that the 23 P. Knight Daimler 6-cylinder was bad on Brooklands after 30 mph. rattled which increased with speed up to 45 miles. the best speed obtained. when he asked the driver to stop because the vibration was so bad and distressing. Typed text: (2) that the chassis is more soundly built and of probably better workmanship, and the engine will undoubtedly be fitted with a better carburetter than that supplied by the Daimler people. Yesterday afternoon I went to Holmes and I saw the new 38 Daimler, 6-cylinder, which I was surprised to see had worm drive. With the exception of adapting the old parts of the chassis to the inclination needed for the worm drive, nothing seems to have been altered on the chassis from the one we received here, and, of course, I could tell nothing about the engine except from the looks of it. It seemed very bulky and heavy but the rest of the chassis was as poor as the one I criticised before. | ||
