To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Sft.{Mr Swift} c. to Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} x340 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.5/KW.11.6.36. Mark VI Radiator Matrix for Ph.III. As you will see from report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/KW.10.6.36 on Ph.III Cooling, the Mark VI type of core is more efficient than the Mark V, also the Ph.III car is in need of all the cooling that we can give it. In view of this we want to standardise the Mark VI core at the earliest possible moment and are therefore issuing a Standardisation Sheet to-day (Hancock is running one of these matrices in France at the moment). We have been in touch with Marstons, in conjunction with Roy.{Sir Henry Royce}, and they cannot deliver machine made Mark VI cores for two to three months. They will, however, supply us with hand-made cores at a commencing rate of 2 per week, increasing within one month to 6 per week. We think that we should not wait for the Standardisation Sheet to circulate, but instruct all the Mark VI cores available to be fitted to cars likely to be used on the Continent etc., making up the rest of the production quota with Mark V blocks as at present.
