Pumps already in Service.

We should like to know the position of pumps already in service with regard to:-

(a) Diaphragms.

(b) The use of the cutter to clear the fouling of the pole pieces.

(c) The limit of wear allowed on the roller race before a pump is considered to be un-serviceable.

We should like to know what instructions have been issued to Depots to give them a true picture of the petrol pump situation, and we also want to be assured that any pumps put on a customer's car will be the best we know of.

Pumps fitted to Experimental Cars.

We expect the delivery of every pump on Experimental cars to be checked once a week, and the results recorded on a chart. We also expect the specification of the petrol pumps to be recorded on a card which carries the general specification of the car, and which is available for the driver's inspection.

Future Petrol Feed Systems.

It was agreed:-

(a) that the best line of procedure for immediate and future production was the electrical pump. This pump requires a certain amount of development because of its somewhat temperamental electrical and mechanical features. Development work required includes testing of nitrided rollers, races and spindle.

(b) That the only other system which could be expected to give reasonably good results in a short space of time would be the combination of electrical and mechanical pump, but this will have to wait until we have ensured that the pump in the frame, to which we are at present committed, is reasonably satisfactory.
