CAR.RADIO.

We visited Messrs. Hoopers on Monday last the 1st instant along with Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} & Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} to inspect the new British Ekco Radio Set which we have arranged to be installed in the 40/50 limousine to be exhibited on our stand at Olympia.

This set has several original features which make it more applicable to British and Continental conditions as compared with the existing American sets such as the Philco. These are :-

(a) The provision of a long and short wave switch to receive the new Droitwich station and other long wave stations in addition to the whole list of Continental stations having the medium wave lengths.

(b) The provision of a tone control for the loud speaker.

(c) An additional control which cuts out the noise in the set when tuning in to stations. With this switch in the on position the set is absolutely silent when tuning in and no appreciable difference in performance is noted, but for long distance receiving it is necessary to put the switch back to the off position.

All these controls are neatly arranged together for remote control and in easy reach of the passenger in the rear seat similar to the Cadillac.

The tuning dial lights up as soon as it is switched on and the station is tuned by a moving shadow behind the dial printed with the names of the stations and not just numbers as on other Car Radio sets. The tuning is extremely accurate and when the shadow is behind the name the station is exactly tuned in. This again is another exclusive feature to Ekco.
