-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wat.1/WA.{Mr Wallis}3.10.34. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} The set is arranged to be under slung from the rear floor board, and the speaker unit is mounted below the interior heater in the middle of the centre division. We feel confident that when the set is completely fitted up it will prove to be a very attractive proposition. Discussing the question of Car Radio with Sales it was decided that they should order from us for the use of Coachbuilders and radio service depots, fifty sets of small parts for mounting the condensers and noise suppressors in a correct and efficient manner. We have had instances where the condensers have been badly fitted and, in the case of Ba's car, short circuiting the dynamo terminals. We shall be glad if By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will look into the question of instructing these small parts as discussed between ourselves and By/RD. They consist of a small bracket for mounting the condenser, on the dynamo, a special stud for fitting on the battery ignition distributor, and allowance for the bakelite base of the regulator unit to be grooved for the condenser wire. We also arranged with Sales that they would advise the Works which chassis were to be fitted with Radio Sets so that the chassis could be sent out from the Works with these small parts fitted in place ready for the noise suppression condensers etc. In this case it might be preferable for us to completely equip the car with the condensers fitted so that the only additional work to be done is the fitting of the wireless set in position. We also visited a radio service station namely, The National Radio Service Ltd., with a view to ascertaining their facilities for installing radio sets in our cars. We were not favourably impressed however with the facilities available and for the moment we do not recommend that we take any action in this respect until we have been able to visit other places. We understand however that the Ekco people are negotiating with N.R.S.Ltd., to take over their Car Radio Installation Business in the near future, in which case it might prove that, should we recommend Ekco sets, the installation of these sets will be carried out by N.R.S. with the addition facilities afforded by their co-operation with Ekco Ltd. We recommend therefore that we defer our decision in this matter until a later date. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wat. | ||
