Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} ------- X1282 BY.2/G.30.8.35. We had corrosion attack on aero engines in a similar way where Ethyl Lead was used in presence of water. We cured the oil cap attack by nickel plating the aluminium oil caps. I cannot believe Heron is right re water being the cause, as we have had many cases where water gets into the oil, but only one case of corrosion, and it is not reasonable to suppose with the thousands of engines made we have not had water present at some time in the oil. We propose to plate. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
