Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 6th May, 1937. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Adkins, Esq., c/o J.S. Inskip, Esq., 10 East 57th Street, NEW YORK, U.S.A. Dear Adkins, Thank you for your letter re the P.III clutch. I am glad that this is still giving satisfaction. The more miles you can get in on it the better. I am trying to get the Administration here to agree that in future when you have clutch trouble you can go to Longs for one of these plates. I am recommending, however, that before you do this you should complete as many miles as possible up to 10,000, and then strip the clutch for examination. If you are doing a lot of traffic work, the 10,000 miles can, of course, be shortened to 7,000, provided that at least 2,000 was traffic work. I hope that the Packard exhaust system and Lincoln brake drum will arrive in due course. I understand from London that they have managed to improve the delivery date of the car about which Mr. Inskip was worrying. You will remember that I asked you some questions about the Dodge engine, and you reported very favourably on the cars which you have owned yourself. We are particularly interested in the Dodge engine unit because it is short and light. I should be very much indebted to you if you could speak to some of the big service agents for this car | ||
