We attach to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH's copy the original of :- PL.528 Morris 8 Gearbox fitted in Myth Chassis. The above scheme is a 1/2 scale layout showing the modifications necessary to fit the Morris 8 Gearbox in the Myth Chassis. We have chosen the position of the gearbox in relation to the engine and the driver to get a good position for the change gear lever and yet not scrap the existing designs more than necessary, so that the standard Junior Range gearbox can be substituted with a minimum amount of alterations. We do not need to alter the frame designs or the pedals, also the clutch and actuating mechanism is unaltered. The major alterations are as follows :- 1. A new clutch casing will be required to suit the Myth rear engine facing and the Morris gearbox front facing. 2. A diaphragm will be required to support the clutch actuation and assist in assembling the gearbox in position in the Chassis frame. 3. The Morris 1st Motion Shaft requires an extension to suit the Myth Clutch. 4. A new rear engine mounting will be required and we propose to use the Morris rubbers for a start. 5. A coupling flange is required to the rear end of the Morris box to suit the Myth propellor shaft which is unaltered. (continued) | ||
