FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM W.A. Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. 13th. January. 1931. Dear Mr. Robotham, SILENT TYRES. --------- As you are doubtless aware Mr. Cowen is not satisfied that the "modified silent" now arranged for future supplies is meeting with entire approval. We have, therefore, promised to review the matter again, with a view to providing if we can, some design which makes a better appeal, and for this purpose we shall make some further experimental moulds at Fort Dunlop. As our Buffalo factory have a design which might be of interest, to save time we have got two tyres over, and they are being sent addressed for your personal attention. It will be appreciated if you will be kind enough to have them tried, and favour us with your views in due course. We regret there are only two tyres, but doubtless they may enable you to gather some information regarding noise, and skidding, although I think you know the situation fairly well regarding the latter point. Yours truly, For THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD., W Sand Development Manager. P.S. This confirms telephonic message. | ||
