H.T. IGNITION CABLE.
x86 X 3860

We hope shortly to be making a full technical report of the comparative tests of Glover and Maconite H.T. cable.

For this purpose we should like to have information regarding the cost of these two sources of supply and also it might be as well to have the cost of similar cables supplied to us by the Helsby people, of which I believe we have used some Quantity, and of which you have recently sent us another sample.

Concerning this latter sample, you have been asking us for a report, but I am afraid we cannot give you anything useful at this stage. We do not understand whether this wire is supposed to be something different from the Helsby cable which I believe we have had previously. Owing to pressure of other work we have not yet been able to make preliminary tests on this small sample, but in any case we should not think of doing anything until we have run a set on a car for comparative test with the Maconite, because as things stand at present we have quite a large amount of evidence of the Maconite being superior to other types.

Later. We have now had a conversation with Mr. Dixon of Messrs. Glovers, and explained the general position to them. It has been arranged for them to submit to us two 100' samples, one made up with their Gloverite which they consider to be equal to or better than the Maconite, and the other with a special kind of higher quality rubber covering than the present. We were not aware previously that they considered that what they were supplying to us was anything but the best.
