X9410 BJ2/DN25.8.24. TO Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG22.8.24. FROM BJ X9410 X766 Confirming our conversation on the telephone this morning :- (1) We understand you and Rg{Mr Rowledge} will be back in Derby on Friday. If this day is convenient to Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}, please arrange a Derby Conference and lunch for that day. Unless we hear to the contrary from you, we will send up the usual notices and understand that Derby will arrange for the room at the Hotel, lunch etc. (2) X9410 With regard to the test of springs 12½% stronger in France, please let us know what has been the result of previous tests of 40/50 HP cars with our usual springs. Have they broken during the 10,000 miles tests, and how long had they run and under what conditions of speed etc.? X766 Also, what was the result of testing such standard springs on the bumping test ? (3) Over-heating:- With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG22.8.24, as you are seeing R on Wednesday, we think it would be better for you to discuss the matter with him before sending the car to the South of Europe, as he might like to have some further experiments made on this car, such as having a bonnet fitted with, and another bonnet without louvres, to ascertain the exact difference. You will, of course, bear in mind that every day is of importance, and that we want to catch the hot weather. As it is, the car will probably have to go to some mountainous district in the South of Italy to find hot weather, as the cool weather has probably set in in Switzerland. BJ | ||
