w/s Whr.{Mr Wheeler} c to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c to My. c to D/L Y7960 Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/WW17/WW1.7.30. re CHASSIS 12-XJ - SALE PROPAGANDA. CAR. With reference to our telephone conversation of this afternoon in the course of which we recommended, on the advice of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, that the above car should be returned to London as it is, in order that it can be sent to the coachbuilders for them to examine the bodywork in respect of PN{Mr Northey}'s complaint and also in connection with the fixing of the body, the damage which has been done to the brackets of the sub frame. You agreed to this arrangement, and we are therefore returning the car to Lillie Hall by road tomorrow, Wednesday, as arranged. We also advise you to have the body removed by the coachbuilders in order that the chassis only need be returned to us. There are quite a number of modifications which should be carried out on this chassis in addition to decarbonisation, and any other attention which the chassis may need, and we should probably require the chassis here about 3 working weeks. We mention "working weeks" as the works' holidays will commence on the 26th instant. We also confirm having informed you that although PN{Mr Northey} left the car at W. a few days ago for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to test, this test could not be carried out previously as he was away until yesterday. This explains why we have not been able to make any recommendations until today. Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/WW. [STAMP: RECEIVED 4 JUL 1930] | ||
