Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} ----------------- Arising out of our recent discussion with Messrs. Price's representatives, i.e., their Sales Manager and Chief Chemist, attached please find copy of letter now to hand setting out their findings in this matter. The sample gallon in question, containing 3% of water, which they have prepared at our special request, has been passed by Stores to the Laboratory. Meantime if anything can be done to expedite matters in this connection, it would be very helpful, as we have already concluded arrangements with Messrs. Price for the distribution and marketing of this special Gear Compound, which arrangements are now held up pending result of the investigation, i.e., whether the reason for the failure of the three Axles in the Dynamometer House was due to Price's Gear Compound or otherwise - quite apart from the fact that these special arrangements we have with Messrs. Price ensure the supply of this Compound at a figure approximately 1/10th that of the American produced material, i.e., Whitmore's Compound. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} ENCLOSURE.
