S. SMITH & SONS (Motor Accessories) LTD., CRICKLEWOOD WORKS, LONDON. N.W.2. CONTINUATION NO. 1.

December 30th, 1933.

Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd.

we would like you to understand that we assume that if you contemplate fitting these jacks you would yourselves provide the fixing arrangements. We can at this stage only adapt our fittings.

We note that one of the rear jacks collapsed under the side strain imposed on it by jacking up on a 1 in 7 gradient. We propose therefore to employ the larger size of jack for the rear as this is much stronger, and to arrange for another ½" on the lift. We think you will then find everything satisfactory.

The larger rear jack requires twice the time of the smaller for lifting so that the rear will then take 30 seconds, the front 15 seconds and the whole car 45 seconds.

It will be necessary for us to make the two short rear jacks and to modify the bracket to fit, also to make up a pair of front jacks with a longer stroke. This will occupy about three weeks, but we will advise you when the jacks are ready for fitting.

Yours faithfully,
for S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LTD.
