(2) With regard to the treatment of the undershield on the sloping portion of the cross member, this is different on the Goshawk we have here to the design sent through, but we think it can be accounted for by the irregularity of the cross member and the exceptionally thick packing piece. We have shewn the treatment for this on the attached drawing, and we would call your attention to the allowance that has been left on the pieces fixed to the cross member for variations in the thickness of the packing.
