20/25 HP. CHASSIS - CLUTCH.
--------------------------

With reference to the movement of the clutch pedal reported by the Test Department, we have given this matter very careful consideration, and after investigating the amount of running done by the Experimental Department with the type of clutch complained of we are satisfied that it is possible for us to go on from hand to mouth with the above clutch in order to keep production going.

We have also instructed the Works to machine only the new type of clutch cover, but not to fit any of these until they receive our definite direct instructions to do so, as in considering this matter with the Experimental Department it became evident that the extra weight might have a very positive re-action upon flywheel flutter, and until the Experimental Department, to whom we have issued a blueprint of the new part, have been able to complete their experiments and satisfied themselves that the extra weight will not create a new difficulty we will have to continue with the old clutch.

The Test Department must follow the procedure which they suggested as a means of temporarily overcoming the clutch pedal, viz. setting the clutch pedal lever 1" /movement further in and moving the spindle carrying the pedal plate further out to accommodate this change.

In view of all the facts the above seems to be the only reasonable way of dealing with the difficulty which has arisen.
