28 - MANUFACTURE OF EXPERIMENTAL ITEMS.

It has now been agreed by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that a certain amount of work can be done on car pieces in the Experimental Shop. Every month a review will be made of what parts are in progress and what parts have been designed and are awaiting manufacture. We will then decide what pieces the Experimental Shop at Derby shall be asked to make and what parts shall be made locally. At present we are getting Senior Range gearbox and Xyth engine parts made. The Xyth suspension will be put in hand as soon as the details are completed, and also pedals. Eight cylinder aluminium block and crankcase for eight cylinder engine, together with crankshaft and tappets, will be put in hand as soon as the drawings are available. This will include rockers for the silent tappets, which have been removed from the Vulture. At the conclusion of each Testers' Conference, the question of manufacture will be reviewed by S.M., Dm{D. Munro}/Wym{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} and Dm{D. Munro}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}

29 - GEARBOX.

Dm{D. Munro}/A.H. asked that Dm{D. Munro}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} should circulate a report with photographs on every gearbox failure. It was agreed that this should be done. Rs{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}/J.M. will try the Morris gearbox and give us his views.

30 - ELECTRICAL FAILURES - ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT - Dm{D. Munro}/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} will circulate a report on electrical equipment and what has been done in this respect. Also he will review the electrical equipment fitted to the small cars we have got.

31 - THRUST RODS FAILURES.

The race cage will be dealt with on the lorry and the pedal set up against the bearers. The process will be repeated on Devereux' car as and when opportunity occurs. It was agreed that this job might be carried out in parallel on the test bed. This will be arranged.

32 - S.U. CARBURETTERS.

It was agreed that the first job on S.U. carburetter was to get back to B.II consumption and, at the same time, establish that carburettors and needles made to the same drawing will give the same results on the road. When this result has been achieved, further experiments can be considered. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} emphasised that customers were complaining and that we must modify production B.V cars in customers' hands. This was the first objective.
