| To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} x206 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}15/KW.11.2.36. Bentley Rear Brake Drums in "Lopaz". We have received from Ley's of Derby 2 castings which can be machined to the same approximate conform as O.100981 and GB.1279, the two being integral. We would like these drums so machined, but without reducing the cooling ribs in height. The drums should be fitted to standard hubs, but the 10 bolts should not at first be rivetted over. We wish to have a laboratory report made on this material, and for this purpose require a piece of the rib immediately over the "end plate" removing from one drum, 1/2" in length and full rib section. From the same drum we want about 3 or 4 ozs of turnings collecting, the turnings to be free from rust and sand, and uncontaminated with other metals. This is very important. The samples should be handed to me. The drums will first be tested on a rig, not on a car. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.F.Martindale. | ||
