Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 8th August respecting Electric Gauge. We are sorry to note that for the moment the dual gauge is too large at the back, to permit it to be installed in your present panel, because of interference with other instruments. In regard to the accuracy of the gauge we submitted to you, we note with interest your method of checking this, which is, to all intents and purposes, identical with our own. You will appreciate, however, that the sample was hand-written, which would account to some extent, for these slight variations, and so far as a production order is concerned, a margin of error of ± 2°C. should be within our compass. At the essential point, of course, boiling, this should be dead right, as it is our datum. Regarding the fixing of the bulb, we are uncertain yet as to whether this can be modified satisfactorily to accommodate in your cylinder head. We are, however, now arranging to modify one to see if this is possible, the difficulty being that where | ||
